BGMania B-Sides: Neon White

BGMania B-Sides #47 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bedroth dives headfirst into the stylish chaos of Neon White, the blisteringly fast first-person action platformer from Angel Matrix that somehow manages to blend speedrunning obsession, visual novel storytelling, and heavenly demon-slaying into one package. Beneath all of the neon-soaked spectacle and twitch-heavy gameplay is a soundtrack that practically refuses to sit still.

This episode arrives courtesy of listener Derek, whose request gives us the perfect excuse to spend some time with one of the most immediately recognizable modern indie soundtracks out there. The music comes from Machine Girl, whose aggressive electronic style gives Neon White its pulse-pounding identity, but the soundtrack also knows when to pull back and let atmosphere take over.

This soundtrack was the perfect ingredient to a Monday at the Boston Store. Even though the Shitizens love to be messy, cleaning up after them is so much easier when I’m in another dimension. So, thanks again for another escape from reality.
